Deleting your account
How to do it, what goes, and what does not.
From inside the app
Open Account, then Security, and choose Delete my account. You will be asked to confirm. It happens immediately — there is no waiting period and nothing to cancel afterwards.
The app is at app.chilavubook.com and on Android. Either one will do it; an account is not per device.
If you cannot get in
Write to admin@chilavubook.com from wherever you like, giving your sixteen-digit account number. You can find it under Account in the app, and it is the only thing anyone needs to identify you here, because it is the only thing the server knows you by. Requests are acted on within seven days.
A request made this way cannot be verified as coming from you, so what it does is start the same deletion — it cannot be used to read anything, and there is nothing readable to hand over even if someone asked.
What deletion removes
- Your account and the number it was issued, which is retired and not reissued.
- Every device you enrolled, and every session.
- Every book nobody else is left in, with everything written in it and every receipt uploaded to it. The files are removed from the disk, not merely unlinked from a row.
- Invitations to you, and any notification subscriptions.
What it does not remove
- A book other people are still in. It stays, and so does what you wrote in it, because it is theirs as much as yours and taking it away would delete their records. Leave those books first if you want your entries out of them.
- Anything on your own devices. Deleting the account does not reach the copy on a phone or a browser. Use "Forget this device" in the app for that, or uninstall.
- Backups you made yourself. They are your files and were never on the server.
- Web server logs, which hold addresses and paths and no account contents, and age out within thirty days.
- Database backups, which are kept for restoring the service after a failure and age out on their own. What they hold is the same ciphertext nobody can read.
It cannot be undone
There is no recovery after deletion, and your recovery phrase will not bring the account back — there is nothing left for it to open. If you want to keep what you have written, make a backup from Account first; it is a single file, sealed under a passphrase you choose.
